In a controversial development, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, founder of Christ Embassy (LoveWorld Incorporated), has publicly addressed the departure of several prominent gospel musicians from his church, including Sinach, Frank Edwards, Joe Praize, and Eben.
Speaking in a recently surfaced Instagram video, Oyakhilome claimed the musicians had strayed from their spiritual calling, transforming the church into “a party place” rather than maintaining it as a space for prayer and worship.
“They charged for their singing, they became professionals making money from the church,” Oyakhilome stated, suggesting that financial motivations had overshadowed their ministry duties. “The little money they were making was too attractive to them, so they didn’t want to follow me.”
The pastor’s comments follow earlier reports that the musicians left after facing restrictions on their ability to minister outside Christ Embassy. Tensions reportedly peaked when Sinach performed at “The Experience,” an annual gospel concert organized by Pastor Paul Adefarasin’s House on the Rock church.
Oyakhilome particularly criticized the artists’ commitment to church activities, noting, “They led praise, but when it was time for prayers, they were gone.” He expressed hope for their repentance, declaring, “They are not worship leaders.”
As of now, Sinach, Frank Edwards, and the other mentioned artists have not publicly responded to Oyakhilome’s allegations.
