PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has assigned diplomatic postings to four of the 68 ambassador-designates confirmed by the Senate in December.
A Thursday night statement from presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga revealed that President Tinubu has assigned Ambassador Ayodele Oke to France and Colonel Lateef Are to the United States of America.
The President also assigned Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, who previously served in South Korea, as high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.
Additionally, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, former Kebbi State governor, has been designated as ambassador to Turkey, where the President plans to commence a state visit next week.
President Tinubu instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through a memo to inform the governments of these four nations about the ambassador-designates, following standard diplomatic protocols.
Last November, Tinubu submitted an initial list of ambassador-nominees to the Senate for confirmation, ending nearly two years of vacant positions at Nigerian missions overseas.
He subsequently forwarded an additional 32 nominations.
The Senate confirmed 64 ambassadorial nominees in December, raising the total number of confirmed candidates to 67.
Beyond the four newly assigned diplomats, the remaining list includes prominent figures such as Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide; Mahmood Yakubu, former INEC chairman; Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister; and Fatima Florence Ajimobi, former First Lady of Oyo State, among others.
