Veteran Nollywood actor Sunday Afolabi has opened up about the hardship he has faced since relocating to Badagry, saying the move disrupted his acting career and left him struggling financially.
The actor made the revelation while speaking with Biola Adebayo on the Talk to B podcast, recounting how he went from being a familiar face on television to taking up odd jobs to survive.
Afolabi said he relocated to Badagry to own a house, but the decision brought serious setbacks. He revealed he eventually lost his Nissan Quest after he could no longer afford repairs, and the car sat unused for nearly two years as acting and photography jobs dried up.
He said he later sold the vehicle for N180,000 and used the money to buy a fairly used motorcycle. Not used to riding okadas, he said he fell repeatedly while operating it.
The actor grew emotional recalling what his wife and children endured with him during the difficult period.
He also described an encounter with a man who recognised him as a former TV star but was shocked to see him struggling. According to Afolabi, the man told him to return to the city and reconnect with people who could help him.
“What I hate most in my life is to beg for food. I would rather do any legitimate job,” he said, adding that he would gladly drive for Uber if given a good car.
Following the interview, Biola Adebayo appealed to the public to support the veteran actor, saying she hopes to help him secure a car, better accommodation, and a stable means of livelihood through the Talk to B platform.
