Manchester City new signing Tijjani Reijnders has said that he is already feeling the pressure to win trophies at the club.
Recall that Manchester City ended last season without any trophies after finishing third in the Premier League and losing the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace.
Speaking during a new interview, Reijnders said that after the trophyless campaign last season, the pressure is definitely on for the team to win something next season.
According to him, the FIFA Club World Cup tournament presents a good opportunity for MCFC to add to its trophy cabinet, and it is a chance everyone at the club will be very willing to take.
“City is one of the biggest clubs in the world and if you play for a club like this then you have to win prizes,” he said.
The Netherlands international maintained that joining Manchester City was a no-brainer as soon as the offer arrived because it is one of the best clubs in the world.
Reijnders stated that he hopes to score lots of goals and give many assists to help the team domestically and in Europe.
The midfielder concluded by saying that he has watched clips of his mistakes at AC Milan, and he is working on being a lot of calmer in front of goal when the opportunity arrives during matches.
“It was almost a no-brainer when City came. An easy choice in the end. It’s important to play European football and playing for City is a dream.
That is what I did last season with Milan, being more on the scoresheet.
It’s very important to score goals as a midfielder and it’s what I’m looking for, that and assists.
The first season at Milan I wasn’t calm in my head when I had opportunities and it was something I was thinking about in the summer after.
I watched clips back of myself when I got into those situations and tried to adapt to those kinds of things in the second season, to be calmer in front of goal,” he added.
