Dufil Prima Foods, manufacturers of Indomie Instant Noodles, has launched the 17th edition of its Indomie Heroes Award.
Speaking at a recent press conference in Lagos State, Group Corporate Communications and Events Manager at Dufil Prima Foods, Temitope Asiwaju, revealed that the award ceremony represents the brand’s continued effort to shine the light on how courageous and resilient the Nigerian child is.
According to him, Indomie Heroes Award, which is a popular corporate social responsibility initiative honouring kids who display amazing acts of heroism despite challenging circumstances, will continue to recognise special children who thrive in 3 unique categories of bravery: Physical Bravery, Social Bravery, and Intellectual Bravery.
Temitope said that over the years, Indomie has uncovered beautiful stories of Nigerian kids saving others from fires, boldly fighting back against social injustice, and succeeding academically despite physical disabilities and overwhelming poverty. “I am filled with excitement.
For those who have followed us over the years, you’d see how we’ve grown, improved, and continued to reach farther in our mission to spotlight these young heroes,” her words.
Asiwaju maintained that the programme focuses on awarding cash prizes to under-15 children who make admirable sacrifices regardless of the personal risk involved, and they are definitely worthy of celebration because they are evident testaments to the resilience of the Nigerian spirit.
“Past winners include Khalil Bala, who at just 13, ran into a burning house to save his younger sister, suffering severe burns in the process. Another is Razak Omolade, a physically challenged cobbler who used his award grant to grow his shoemaking business and now supports a family. There’s also the inspiring case of a girl from Kebbi State, born without arms, who learned to perform daily tasks using her feet and is now thriving in school.
They are powerful testaments to the resilience of the Nigerian spirit and beyond awarding cash prizes, Indomie also provides educational or vocational support while tracking the recipients’ progress over time,” he added.
