The newly appointed Commission Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, has pledged to revitalise Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas industry in alignment with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.
Speaking at her inaugural town hall meeting with management and staff on Tuesday, December 23, Eyesan outlined her vision to position the Commission as a catalyst for business growth and attract fresh investments to the upstream sector.
The new NUPRC leader emphasised her commitment to increasing Nigeria’s oil output and expanding gas production capacity. “The goal is that we must enable the industry; we are regulators. We must enable the industry through our interactions with stakeholders,” she stated. “My main objective is to ensure that we make a difference. I believe the NUPRC is at the centre of the industry.”
Drawing on her three decades of experience in the oil and gas sector, Eyesan promised to implement digital transformation initiatives while ensuring transparency and operational efficiency across the Commission’s activities.
She expressed confidence that with collective support from staff and management, the NUPRC would establish itself as Africa’s premier regulatory body. Her priorities include staff capacity building, enhanced technical expertise, and sustained engagement with stakeholders, unions, and professional teams.
Regarding her management approach, the CCE announced an open-door policy and regular staff consultations. She called for cooperation and support as the industry enters a new transformational phase.
“If we work together we can unleash opportunities, I don’t see impediments, only opportunities,” Eyesan concluded.
