A Turkish Airlines pilot tragically passed away after collapsing mid-flight, prompting the airline to make an emergency landing in New York, the company announced on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, shortly after the flight departed from Seattle, according to airline spokesman Yahya Ustun, who shared the news on X (formerly Twitter).
“Our Airbus 350 pilot on flight TK204 from Seattle to Istanbul collapsed mid-flight,” Ustun explained. Despite efforts to provide first aid, the 59-year-old pilot could not be revived, and he died before the plane landed.
Ustun also noted that the pilot had passed a medical examination in March, showing no signs of health issues.
