Lagos State’s Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba has opened an investigation into the unexplained deaths of two Nollywood crew members discovered lifeless in a vehicle at a film location in Lekki Phase 1.
The victims have been identified as Godstime Imeh, a lighting director and owner of GeeTee Light, and Walter Odediran, a creative video director professionally known as Director Carrinqton.
Their bodies were found on Saturday evening, February 7, 2026, inside Imeh’s parked car on the set of a film reportedly directed by former Big Brother Naija contestant Boma.
According to sources, the pair had arrived early that morning to set up lighting equipment. After finishing their work around mid-morning, they retreated to Imeh’s tinted Nissan to rest while waiting for their next assignment.
Around 11 a.m., a crew member brought them breakfast—yam and omelette. Both men were last seen alive in the air-conditioned vehicle. Concern mounted when their phones went unanswered by midday. That evening, colleagues found them unresponsive inside the car.
Walter’s elder brother, Kola Odediran, shared his grief with Vanguard: “Walter and I were like twins. He was 36, our family’s last-born, and extremely close to Godstime. They collaborated on numerous productions together.”
He described the tragic discovery: “They were shooting a hospital scene at Evercare Hospital that Saturday. Around 10 a.m., they took a break in GeeTee’s car. Food was brought to them—that was the last time anyone saw them conscious. When filming ended around 7 or 8 p.m., they were found dead. Walter was sitting upright with foam around his mouth. GeeTee had collapsed, with blood coming from his nose, eyes, and mouth. Whatever happened appeared to strike suddenly.”

Kola expressed frustration with the initial police handling: “The case went to Maroko Police Station first but wasn’t treated with urgency. We had to take it to SCID in Yaba, where it was properly recorded as an unnatural death requiring investigation and autopsy. Everyone involved has been questioned—the producer, Boma, and the person who delivered the food.”
Police have confirmed interviewing the film’s producer, the food vendor, the staff member who delivered the meal, and hospital management. The food vendor remains in police custody.
Investigators are exploring multiple angles, including environmental hazards, potential poisoning, and mechanical problems—particularly noting the presence of heavy-duty industrial generators positioned above the parking area.
Forensic examinations are underway, including autopsy, toxicology screening, vehicle inspection, and CCTV footage review. Authorities have stated that all scenarios remain under consideration pending laboratory results.
“This has devastated our family,” Kola said. “Our mother is heartbroken. He was the baby of the family. We only had two boys. The pain is unbearable.”
