Shola Ogudu, the mother of Wizkid’s first son, Boluwatife Balogun, has come out to defend her boy online. This comes after a critic on X claimed that his management was not doing enough to push his music career.
According to the social media user, Bolu’s manager could have done a better job in building a solid fanbase for the budding artiste, and the streaming numbers from the teenager’s first project prove his point.
Reacting, Shola simply explained that her son, known musically as Champz, is only 14; therefore, he has to balance his education with his passion for music.
Maintaining that Wizkid is a legend in the Nigerian music scene, she urged Nigerians to avoid comparing her boy to anyone as he begins his own musical journey.
“Big love to everyone showing support, BUT comparisons aren’t needed. Champz is 14, balancing academics and his passion with serious discipline.
His dad is a Legend and that’s facts but this is Champz’s journey, his grind, and his future. NO PRESSURE !!!” she wrote.
Her reaction earned praise from many who applauded her for prioritising her son’s personal development over the pressure of fame.
Champz released his debut project titled “Champion’s Arrival” on November 11. The EP, which marked his official entry into music, featured tracks like “Champion Montana,” “Grind,” “Superstar,” “Champion Sound”, and “Champion.”
The teenager had earlier teased his debut with a viral studio clip, sparking conversations with a bold line: “Shoutout to the OGs in the game, but it’s time to pass on the baton.”
