Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has been crowned overall champion and best sports company at the 20th Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG), which concluded Saturday in Abuja.
NLNG dominated the competition with an impressive haul of 52 medals—20 gold, 16 silver, and 16 bronze—securing first place on the medal table.
The company’s stellar performance dethroned defending champions Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), which settled for second place with 49 medals comprising 14 gold, 15 silver, and 20 bronze.
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) claimed third position with 18 medals, while TotalEnergies finished fourth with 15 medals.
Additional participants in the biennial event included Renaissance, Oando, Seplat Energy, Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), ND Western, Chevron, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), ExxonMobil, Shell, and Aradel.
Running from February 8 to 14, the 20th NOGIG edition celebrated 40 years of sporting excellence within Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
At the Abuja Stadium, NLNG’s deputy managing director, Olakunle Osobu, praised the athletes’ outstanding achievements while leading the company’s delegation.
“This victory demonstrates the resilience, discipline, and unity that characterize NLNG,” Mr. Osobu stated. “Excellence at NLNG extends beyond the boardroom—it’s woven into our culture and visible in how we compete, collaborate, and succeed in both business and sports. I’m incredibly proud of Team NLNG for proving our winning mentality transcends our operations.”
Organizers noted that this milestone edition underscored the industry’s dedication to fostering teamwork and collaboration beyond professional responsibilities.
