‘I’m Alive And Healthy’ – Nollywood Actor Owolabi Ajasa Dismisses Viral Death Rumours

Popular Nollywood actor Owolabi Ajasa, widely recognised for his comic catchphrase “Ta lo pa chief”, has dismissed widespread rumours claiming he had died, assuring fans that he is alive and in good health.

False reports of the actor’s death spread rapidly across social media after an obituary poster bearing his name circulated online, sparking concern among fans and colleagues.

Reacting to the claims, Ajasa posted a video on his Instagram page to personally address the rumours and reassure the public about his wellbeing.

The actor, who is also known for frequently portraying police officers in Nollywood productions, described the reports as false and urged fans not to believe them. He also condemned those responsible for spreading the fake obituary.

In the video, Ajasa said he remains healthy and active, thanking his supporters in Nigeria and abroad for their concern.

“Good day everyone. My name is still Owolabi Ajasa, your Nollywood police officer. I want to tell all my fans both in Nigeria and outside the country that I’m still very much alive. I’m hale and hearty, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with me. To those circulating my obituary, I return it to the sender. May such evil remain with you and your family,” he stated.

The actor’s clarification has since eased fears among fans, many of whom had taken to social media to express shock over the fake reports before his video surfaced.

Oga Bello Recalls Difficult Moments After Mentor’s Death

Meanwhile, veteran Nollywood actor Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, has opened up about one of the darkest periods of his life, revealing that he almost abandoned acting following the death of his mentor.

Speaking during an interview with Feel Right News TV, the 73-year-old actor recounted how the passing of his former boss and mentor, Ojo Ladipo, widely known as Baba Mero, in 1978 deeply affected him.

According to Salami, the emotional burden became even heavier when Baba Mero’s wife died seven years later.

He disclosed that after both deaths, malicious rumours began circulating, with some people falsely accusing him of being responsible for the tragedies.

The veteran actor said the allegations caused him immense emotional pain and nearly forced him to quit the profession he had dedicated his life to, but he eventually overcame the difficult period and continued his successful acting career.
