President Bola Tinubu and Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame held private discussions in Paris on Sunday, focusing on global developments and Africa’s role in the evolving international landscape.
The Nigerian leader shared details of the meeting on his official X account, stating that the lunch provided an opportunity to exchange views on current world affairs and strategies for advancing the continent’s interests amid shifting global dynamics.
Tinubu had traveled to Europe on December 28, 2025, from Lagos as part of his year-end break, according to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga. The trip also precedes his scheduled participation in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit in the United Arab Emirates.
The UAE’s leader, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, extended an invitation to Tinubu for the 2026 edition of the summit, set to take place in early January. The annual weeklong gathering brings together government officials, business leaders, and civil society representatives to address sustainable development challenges.
This year’s summit, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” aims to bridge ambitious goals with concrete actions through innovation, financing, and collaborative efforts, demonstrating pathways for global progress.
Following the summit, President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria.
