An employee of the Nigerian Tribune Newspapers Olalekan Okeola has been arraigned in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State for allegedly stealing 26 car batteries worth N2.1 million.
The 36-year-old, whose residential address was not provided, was charged on Thursday with theft.
The prosecutor Insp. Gbemi Adedeji told the court that Mr Okeola allegedly committed the offence on January 15, at about 9. 00 a.m. at the newspaper’s premises in Ibadan.
Adedeji alleged that the defendant stole the batteries of cars belonging to the company and that the offence was contrary to the Criminal Law Code of Oyo State, 2000.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Adebola Adeola granted him bail for N200,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till February 15, 2024 for hearing.
