Diddy’s lawyers are expecting him to get a two-year prison sentence. This is coming after his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, which was handed down on Wednesday, July 2.
The sentence is way less than the 51 to 63 months sentence that prosecutors wanted, and Diddy was acquitted on Wednesday morning of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.
Reacting via a letter to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, the music mogul’s lawyers vowed to make sure Diddy won’t contact escorts or prostitutes if he is released on bond.
According to them, their request is for the rapper to be freed on a $1 million bond, co-signed by his mother, sister and Sarah Chapman, the mother of his oldest daughter, Chance.
Prosecutors, on the other hand, stressed that the judge should not set bail for Diddy, claiming that he remains a danger to the community because he could still commit prostitution crimes.
They insist that around June 2024, three months before his arrest, and while he was aware he was under federal investigation, Diddy allegedly brutally assaulted one of his victims.
They added that when Diddy was in New York City awaiting his arrest in 2024, he was in possession of drugs and materials associated with a “Freak Off.”
Responding, Diddy’s lawyers clarified that their client never contacted any potential escorts or prostitutes, emphasising that it was impossible because the government had a pen register on his smartphone.
“With all due respect, that suggestion is unsupported. The government had, for an extended period of time, a pen register on his phone. Mr. Combs never called any potential escorts or prostitutes, nor did he make any effort to arrange meetings with escorts or prostitutes, nor was he with Jane in New York,” they said.
