The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has said that the ongoing rehabilitation of the Eleme East West Road will further improve road infrastructure critical for petroleum product logistics. The group recently revealed that the project was recently checked by Engr. David Umahi, the Minister of Works, to ascertain its level of completion.
In a press statement by Dr Billy Gillis-Harry, National President, PETROAN, the association said that the minister’s visit yielded significant results which align its interests with the nation’s petroleum industry.
Stating that the latest development will go a long way towards enhancing sector operations, he maintained that it highlights the government’s concentration on key infrastructure touching the Eleme East West Road corridor, which is vital for energy logistics in Rivers State.
He insisted that the expansion of the road network includes two additional flyovers that will further boost road infrastructure critical for petroleum product logistics.
David Umahi, during the visit, directed the Reynolds Construction Company Limited (RCC) to complete the Eleme East West Road by March 2026.
The minister also instructed RCC to immediately install solar street lights from Eleme Junction to Trailer Park along the Eleme East-West Road.
PETROAN confirmed that it welcomed the minister’s readiness to partner with the association in developing a vast trailer park for trucks serving Indoram, Port Harcourt Refinery, and NPA Onne Wharf, a move expected to improve logistics for petroleum product distribution.
Dr Billy Gillis-Harry noted that the large truck park will create more than 20,000 employment opportunities directly and indirectly, improve hospitality services in the area, and ease the heavy traffic congestion on the Eleme East-West Road.
PETROAN concluded by thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership amid the ongoing efforts towards transforming Nigeria’s infrastructure and energy sector.
